Welcome
to my walk through Florence. Despite the fact that I walked by dozens
of art museums along the way, they do not allow photographs to be take--so
you won't see photos of the David, etc. We will start our walk at the
Cathedral simply referred to as The Duomo (home) which is on the right
in the first phtograph. That is the Cathedral Duomo Santa Maria della
Fiore (Saint Mary of the Flowers). It is the fourth largest church in
Christendom. As you can see no building is higher than the Duomo. Next,
we will walk to the Plaza (Palazza Signoria) and Palazzo Vecchio in
the center of the phot by the bell tower. These are seat of government,
gathering placeand center of the cultural, artistic and financial center
of Florence. There we will also find the great Uffizi Gallery, one of
the great art museums of the world. On the right, in the first picture,
you see the Arno River. All great cities center around water and Florence
is no different. Several bridges cross the river, the most important
being the Ponte Vecchio--a bridge as well as a shopping mall. We will
end our walk where the first pictures were taken, at the Boboli Gardens
behind the Pitti Palace. Click on the first picture
to start the tour or you may randomly select any thumbnail. Enjoy the
walk!
